WINOOSKI – A survey taken just hours into 2018 reveals that Vermonters cannot wait for the year to be over, and are wishing that things could go back to the way they used to be, back in 2017. While the majority of those surveyed back in 2017 (yesterday) had expressed dissatisfaction with 2017 while in the midst of it, once the year ended it became far more attractive.
“I was really looking forward to the new year,” said Bill Pickles of Winooski, “but now that it’s here it doesn’t seem that great. I miss the good old days. Sure, we had our tough times, but we made it through okay. You may be too young to remember 2017, but I can tell you, it was better than what we’ve got now.”
“I remember 2017 like it was yesterday,” said Martha Dymes of Poultney. “Back then we had a work ethic, and a hope for the future. Now what do we have? The future. And I can tell you, I don’t like it.”
Of those surveyed, 61% are completely fed up with 2018 as a whole, and 58% hope that 2019 will be more like the good old days of 2017. Only 19% reported being very happy with 2018, of that 19%, 94.7% indicated that the reason for their happiness was the day off from work. 100% of those indicating they were “very happy” with 2018 expected their levels of satisfaction to decrease within the next 24 hours.
