COLCHESTER \u2013 Top local radio station Star 92.9 will officially switch its format to all Ramadan music starting at noon today and and will continue this theme throughout the month-long celebration. The station usually plays popular music from the past three decades, but occasionally switches over to alternative formats to commemorate religious holidays.<\/p>\n

The station\u2019s commitment to religious music was last seen at Easter<\/a>, when they replaced more secular tunes like \u201cHavana\u201d with adjusted versions such as \u201cHosanna<\/a>.\u201d Deejays say that listeners can expect a similar experience over the coming month.<\/p>\n

The normal pop music selections can still be streamed on their app or through their website, but listeners tuning in on the radio, expecting to hear \u201cWait\u201d by Maroon 5 will instead hear \u201cSehri Ka Waqt\u201d off of Michael Buble\u2019s recent Easter album \u201cRamadan-a-ding-dong.\u201d Pentatonix has just released an a cappella album called “Adhan” which is expected to receive heavy airplay. Also in rotation will be \u201cMahe Ramzan Alveda\u201d by Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey\u2019s remixed \u201cAll I Want For Ramadan is You.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
