HUNTINGTON – As Town Meeting Day approaches, residents all over the state of Vermont are gearing up to get cantankerous with their neighbors, many of whom they haven’t seen since the weather turned in October and the snow began to fall. Although the snow shows no signs up letting up, Vermonters will gather among their communities tomorrow to argue with each other about the little things that make life worth arguing about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I gotta tell you, I look forward to this day every year, and this year more’n most I guess,” said Huntington resident Saul Etude. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long, cold winter, and I haven\u2019t seen Fred in, oh, morna coupla months now. Fred lives across the way there, an\u2019 the leaves from his oak\u2019a been blowin\u2019 into my yard for years. I do make a point to tell him every time I see him, and I expect I\u2019ll bring it up Tuesday. Lookin\u2019 forward to it, as I said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were unable to get in touch with Fred for comment, but we did hear from Fred\u2019s wife, who told us that Saul still hasn\u2019t returned their 9×13 baking dish that was left at a dinner party 6 years ago, and she is considering asking the town to help her get it back. \u201cWe\u2019ll see how the meetin\u2019 goes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other topics that are on the docket for potential discussion include adding a new speed limit sign on Stagecoach Road to make Jerry drive a damn fine bit slower, and redrawing various property lines so that Marie knows where her golldang dogs are allowed to be.<\/p>\n
