WILMINGTON – Residents of Deerfield Valley, which is most likely a mountain<\/a>, have been slyly celebrating the 100th anniversary of the local Farmer’s Day Fair<\/a> for the 67th time this year. Perhaps assuming that no one would notice the repetitive celebratory milestones, the fair organizers have insisted that the fair is only 100 years old. Again.<\/p>\n

“It’s not polite to ask a fair’s age,” said\u00a0Amy Reynolds, DVFDA president. “If the fair says it is 100, it is 100. Now have some cake.” Reynolds would not be swayed by the documented evidence that the fair was born around 1850, and has been insisting it is 100 for over 60 years at this point.<\/p>\n

Ms. Reynolds accused our staff reporter of being ageist, and then asked if we were suggesting that the fair looks older than it is self-reporting. She stopped responding to us after that point, but DVFDA vice-president Ann Brown confirmed that the fair has been using a very dated picture of itself for publicity, and an advance peek at next year’s promotional materials suggests the fair plans to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2018 as well.<\/p>\n
