WOODSTOCK – Following the lead of other Vermont cow activists<\/a>, Babs the cow of Woodstock, VT \u00a0is leading the charge in the fight to raise cow wages, and put an end to the prevalent tipping culture that pervades the dairy industry. \u00a0Throughout most of human history, cows have been paid no actual wage, and rely only on being tipped to survive. Now, Babs is hoping to put a stop to that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in a pretty tight spot,\u201d Babs told reporters. \u201cCows just aren\u2019t being tipped like they used to be. \u00a0People used to come out on a Friday or Saturday night, and we could rely on those people to do a lot of tipping. But people aren\u2019t going out as much, and some of us have almost never been tipped. It\u2019s horrifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dI\u2019ve never been tipped, and I don\u2019t want to be tipped. \u00a0The economic theory that people use to justify tipping systems is just full of holes,\u201d teen cow Pippi said. \u201cWe cows are producing so much of Vermont\u2019s core economic products, and we just want to be paid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many local residents dispute the claims, saying that they tip cows all the time. \u00a0Although, statistically speaking, the number of people who have never tipped a cow has increased by 14% over the last decade.<\/p>\n

\u201dThis is not a fight we are going to back down from,\u201d said Babs. \u201cWe will stand strong. We will not be moved. \u00a0If they want to keep tipping us, we will stand here until they knock us over. \u00a0I\u2019m not leaving until they have to carry me out on a Guernsey.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
