Prouty Merges With Montpelier Naked Bike Ride

MONTPELIER – The Prouty is a two-day annual athletic event in which participants raise money and then ride bicycles up to 100 miles through the mountains of New Hampshire. This year, to consolidate costs and awareness, the Prouty has merged with Montpelier’s regional observance of the annual World Naked Bike Ride, which involves cyclists riding nude through the streets to promote awareness of a cause.

“It’s a win-win,” says honorary Prouty co-chair Ned Redpath. “We’re going to have more riders, raise more money, and promote a tremendous amount of awareness.” The Prouty cyclists will now bike completely naked from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, cutting west through Killington, and ending up in Montpelier, Vermont, completing 100 nude miles on their bikes in just two days. Water stations will be positioned regularly along the track, as well as suncreen cannons that will blast the riders with creamy protection as they pass.

The Naked Prouty will take place this weekend, so be on the lookout for unclothed activists. Give them a wave, and maybe donate some money. Redpath asks supporters to make their donations online rather than in person, as the riders will have no pockets.
