VT Legislature To Debate Bills Exclusively With GIFs

MONTPELIER – In an attempt to keep up with current modes of public debate, the Vermont Legislature will begin a trial period this week in which they will debate exclusively with GIFs and memes. The bills themselves will be written in the same unintelligible legalese as usual, but all comments, amendments, and discussion must be in graphic form. The legislators will use tablets to communicate their thoughts and opinions, and they will have the option to connect to a larger screen using bluetooth wireless technology.

In addition to making discussion much more clear to the general public, there is also hope that this will speed up the legislative process in general. Following the trial period, there will be an evaluation conducted by a tri-partisan panel using only quotes from the movie “Super Troopers.”
